Following up. Here's what I'm doing on my end and what I'd suggest for yours.
Today, on my end: reaching out to Linda Hoffman to get your parents on her calendar for the POA conversation. She's good with older clients and won't rush them.
For you: have a soft conversation with your dad about being more involved — framed as "I want to learn how you've handled all this" rather than "I'm worried about you." He'll respond better to the first.
Don't bring it up with mom directly yet. The property tax confusion is worth watching but doesn't need to be a conversation.
Last thing: your parents are in better shape than you may realize. Pension + Social Security covers fixed expenses with room. Nothing here requires fast moves. We have time to do this thoughtfully.
